What strategies can be used to manage emotional eating?

I do the same thing. The best things I have found is before you eat write down what you are going to eat and why, then redirect your self to something time consuming, comp. chores anything but eating.

You really need to find out what is causeing you so much stress. Once you find out what that is you can deal with it, solve the problem, and move on. The food only comforts you for a while, but then your stress level goes up and it's back to eating again. If you can pin point what the problem is you may not feel the neeed to comfort eat because you'll find comfort in solving your own problems.
