the SIP is based on the TCP/IP architecture.. it's the best one because if offers a good compatibility with the actual internet applications

Well, SIP is an Application Layer protocol Where user interacts with directly., We have some other protocols in the application layer. like FTP,HTTP,SMTP.SIP Mainly uses for voice communication over internet.
