Best answer
A reciver is made up of an amp (power), a pre-amp (controls& inputs/outputs), and usually an AM/FM tuner.. You wouldn't hook up a pre-amp to a reciever, because:. a) the reciever already has one. b) it's redundant

Why would you hook a pre-amp to a receiver? You hook a pre-amp to a power amp...

it should hook up inline with the rca lines if i remember correctly....all it realy does is amp the signal...the more voltage the rca line carries the louder it will be..
