What is the origin of the name 'Aslan' for the lion in The Chronicles of Narnia?

"aslan" means "loin" in turkish.. Btw, it is also a town in on of the post-soviet republics, where terrorists took hostages in a scholl few years ago. Of course that has nothing ot do with Narnia..
