I tell them to get a job. You should not give money to freeloaders. It encourages them to keep on asking.

In my country, any beggar or person who ask for donation for whatever reason, must present a permit from a gov. agency.. . So, i'd ask for the permit first, then I'll think whther to donate a pence or not ;)

I firmly believe in the fact that "you reap what you sow". You never know one day you may need help in some way (not necessarily financial) and it would be nice to know that there is somebody willing to help you.

Usually I would ignore, however if it is well known casue such as: Salvation Army,... etc. I would give them some donation. Other than that I would not give any money to the stranger or organization that I never heard of or not familier with.

I gladly gave him some spare change. He said it was for his church. If he chooses to use it elsewhere, then that is his choce I guess. But I know that I meant well by donating to a good cause.

I usually try to size up the person. If it is for a youth group, I usually give them money. When it is for a church group I tend to be more picky. If it is for disaster relief or a police organization, I give what I can. In my church I give a set amount every time. People begging on the street for money saying they are hungry do not usually get my money, but I tend to go to the nearest fast food place and get them something to eat and drink and bring it back to them. They are always grateful and say thank you!
