Best answer
I think u have pressed the Insert button in your keyboard. Just press the Insert button once more and then it will work properly.

There is an option "overtype" mode. It is more than likely checked. Go to Tools, options, and unclick the overtype mode.

You might also have hit "Insert" on your keyboard. Tap it again, and you should be good to go.

Press the "Insert" button to the right of your "backspace" (on most keyboard layouts). This should fix your issue.

You probably just hit the insert button accidentally. Hit it again, that should probably fix the problem.
