Tha partition of what? Of India and Pakistan? From the little that I know people were lives were totally disrupted. Liberation, and I use that term badly, brought on unimaginable numbers of people dead, raped and dislocated. I am not very knowledgeable but you may be interested in the novels, Train to Pakistan (by Singh I think), and Cracking India by Bapsi Sidwha. These deal with events like the trains of bodies that were sent from Pakistan into India and India into Pakistan, and the religious and social tensions that partition created in the lives of everyone.
