Best answer
Take a decongestant and blow your nose. Even get some of that nasal mist. Your sore throat and coughing could be due to mucus draining down the back of your throat and causing irritation.

I know lemon can irritate your throat. What works for me all the time is the yolk of egg mixed with honey and hot milk. Drink it slow. It does miracles!

here are two old-fashioned remedies for a sore throat/cough. 1. eat ice-cream. 2. fresh lemon juice, and honey, in a glass of hot water.. both work.. if you are over the worst of it you probably should stop taking the cough medicine.

try zinc lozenges, they work really well and gargle with an antiseptic and local aneastetic throat and moth wash.
