Why does the dog bark into the room when no one is there?

Because she is seeing ghost,spirits..... things most of us can't see!!!. . And dogs are NOT stupid they are very smart,smart enough to save your life.They can become your best friend if you treat them right ok!!!!!!

It simple. Animals can see what human can't see!... like earth-quake, they can feel it before it hap pend.. . in my religion, some animals can see angels while other animals can see demons and dog can see demons.. . Few month ago my do did the same thing.

I used to have a chihuahua that would do that as well. I think it is because they want attention. They are very pampered dogs typically (at least mine was) and he would just start barking at nothing till I went and picked him up and he would be fine.. . **** Oh I didn't mean you weren't taking care of her! I just meant that they are really needy dogs and love tons of attention. I don't think it would be ghosts unless all chihuahua's had a 6th sense?? lol...

Thats an attention seeking behaviour. you have to spend some more time with your dog and also let him be around the family instead of keeping him in isolation

All dogs have extremely sensitive hearing. They hear things our human ears are not capable of hearing. My dogs bark at things they hear on tv, noises from outside, other animals in the distance, or cars passing by. Any unusual sound is fair game for them to bark at even though we may not hear it.
