People associate it with witchcraft, which they (incorrectly) associate with devil worship. Therefore they assume its a santanic symbol, even though it isn't.

Most people think witches worship the devil and that it's his sign. Small mind think alike.

Because people for generations have been TOLD it's an evil symbol. And well, what we do all those years we're growing up is absorb all this important and trivial information, so we have a notion of what's going on out there.

Read The Davinci Code, it explains all about the pentacle and the reason people were led to believe it was an evil symbol. Plus its a really fascinating and exciting book. Or just see the movie in a month or so.
