Besides surgery vitamin E and Collagen elastin are great ways to get rid of scars over time...There is also a product called Scar-X that I have used that is great. If you have something coming up you may consider a waterproof makeup to cover it up. You can go to your local Meryl Norman store for complete matching to your skin color and they have great hypoallergenic products!

Mederma- you can get it at most drugstores, it will help fade the scars, but will probably not completely remove them.

If the scar is new, the doctor told me that Vitamin E works for the first 4 months or so to fade scars. It did.. . Over a longer term, I have found that tincture of iodine (potassium iodine is best) will fade scars, but you have to deal with the red tint of the iodine (I use it at night).
