Do you have an opinion on police officers, and what factors influence your view?

I do not dislike cops. Most that I have met & know are good people with good intentions.

cops suck. in Baltimore their all lazy and don't show up for trials where their the only witness's. no wonder we have such a high crime rate.

I like them just fine. I live a block away from the police department and I'm an on call interpreter. Before those two things I never had any contact with cops. I see/talk with them all the time. Guess what? They're people too! They have a sense of humor, get tired/crabby etc. just like the rest of us. They're just doing their jobs. If you have a problem with cops, I'd bet you're less than a model citizen.

That's complicated. Personally, I am afraid of people with guns; however, my best friend is from a big cop family and when he talks about his cop relatives, I always find myself feeling better about the guys/girls with guns. So for me, it isn't dislike, but varying degrees of fear that I feel regarding police officers.

I am all for law and order but cops have far too much power.. . Regardless of what the LAW says, if you get a ticket it is your burden to prove you DIDNT break the law.. . Also, cops spend far too much time writing tickets (easy) and not nearly enough time fighting real crime (hard).

I like them, and have great respect for them. They put their lives in constant danger. There are bad cops, but for the most part, they are great. Just like any other profession, you take the good with the bad.

The bulk of them are control freaks. There should be a strict screening policy for officers so racists, sexists and power-hungry morons aren't allowed onto the force. My parents know many of the officers in their small town. Some of them are great! Very normal, fair and polite. Others are rednecks who wanted to carry a gun and tell people what to do. That happens more than it should.
