i have never gotten the color out of clothes or carpet without it leaving a discoloration on the cloth or carpet. it always makes the surrounding area from the polish a lighter color.

Try buying some pure acetone from the local beauty supply store or drug store. If the items are cotton it won't hurt the cotton just put it on it let it sit for a minute but don't let it dry then run under hot water and then wash like normal.

Use an ACETONE-FREE nail polish remover on the carpet. Acetone might dissolve the synthetic carpet fibers.

Nail polish remover.. . You can buy Acetone at the drug store cheaper. Try an area of the rug away from the nail polish first to see how much of the color of the rug is removed. There are natural nail polish removers also at the drug store -- they usually take longer to work but may not discolor the rug. Think about putting a chair at the spill site. See a battery operated remover below!

Yikes-if you go to a place where they rent carpet cleaners, they usually have a stain guide that tells you what to use on various stains. For your clothes and purse- look up "Heloise" on the net- she writes books about ways to get stains out etc.
