Why is aneuploidy of sex chromosomes less harmful than aneuploidy of even the smallest autosomes?

Because the X is naturally aneuploid in one gender so it has evolved dosage compensation capabilities which help moderate the effects of other copy numbers. The Y codes for very little anyway, so I suppose it just squeaks by. I presume the same is true for WZ systems, etc.
