What does the term 'idle' mean in the context of being on AIM when it says a user like anstasiaossipov1000 has gone idle?

It means they havent used the Instant Messenger for a while.. They still might be using the computer but not the messenger.. . When the person is back, or just clicks on the Messanger window, the "idle" thing dissappears.

It means....that the computer has gained the knowledge that you are brain dead...

It means that person has not typed anything for at least 15 minutes. Maybe they are away from the computer, on the phone, doing something else. It means they are still logged on to the computer, just not sitting there typing on AIM.

it means they haven't input any information into their computer for an amount of time you specify. I think the default is 10 minutes.
