They never existed. Joseph Smith was a lying con artist victimizing the weak and ignorant.

If it was me that got the golden tablets, I would be wondering how to unload the gold without raising suspicion they were part of a gold robbery.. . But back then, gold could be cashed in anywhere. I'm thinking they bought a nice church as an investment.

They must be in the same place as Mose's tablets with the 10 commandments. When are poeple going to stop being so gullible? If someone came up to you and said God talked to them you would think that person is crazy. Why should we treat characters like moses and joseph smith any differently?

Starcameo, of course the Bible doesn't mention Moroni - he lived 600 years after the Bible was completed.. . Official church doctrine is that God took them back into heaven. About 50 people saw them before he did so - many of whom left the church but never denied having witnessed the plates.. . The rumour mill is that the plates were melted down and sold to pay for the building of the Temple, or that they are still there in the tower of the Salt Lake Temple.

Joseph Smith returned them to Moroni when he was done with them.. . I don't find it so hard to believe that the Bible doesn't mention Moroni. After all, Moroni lived at about 400 A.D. on the American continent, quite a long distance in geography and time from the people who wrote the Bible. The Bible DOES say, however, that Jesus taught that he had other sheep which were "not of this fold". He was talking about His children who were living on the American continent.
