Because the dehydration causes your brain to shrink away from the skull.. . The pain receptors pick that up - therefore headache

lack of oxygen so i was told. just drink alot of water.

Weatherman is on the right track. Dehydration between the skull and the brain is also the primary reason for people getting hang overs. When I used to drink I would always drink a quart of water before going to bed. Only 1 hang over...ever.
