i absolutely agree with you that the media is more out of touch with the people. i think that they have their own agenda and they report likewise. i don't really think they know what their agenda is, just that it is liberal and i think that they are completely out of touch with what affects the real people that are living paycheck to paycheck.

I think that the correct answer would be all of the above.. . "By the people, & for the people" carries no weight anymore. Money is the root of the evil of society.

I think they are equally out of touch, but for different reasons. The Republicans probably have the broadest base of Middle American values - with a touch of religious conservatism. But they are out of touch with issues Democrats have on their agenda. The Democrats have a broad base among liberals who want more government security or benefit otherwise from programs that provide the largesse. They miss the point of middle American values. The "mainstream media" is populated to a high percentage with liberal arts graduates (but not enough with history backgrounds) without much business or sciences or military life experience and/or education. So they tend to think solutions for America are best if Government does all the heavy lifting. So they are out of touch with economics and history and foreign policy ... and their failure to present statistics in an accurate way either shows they are ignorant or they are biased to liberals. On balance, the High percentage of Democrat Media "heads" and liberal democrats means the Democrat side is more out of touch than the Repubican side. That said - the Republicans "political" connectedness failed with Bush's strong continued support of Rumsfield.

Definitely the media. You are 100% correct. They aren't objective at all any more. They have a lot more influence now than ever.

I think they are ALL out of touch, and that they need to start getting off their butts and start communitcating a little better with their people. And we as people need not be afraid of letting our voices be heard. We can make a difference...we did TODAY!

I think the Republicans are out of touch with the American people.. . I say this because it is increasingly evident the American people are stupid and ignorant. They are clueless about the Constitution, the limits on government, or the proper role of a limited government. They fail to grasp foreign policy or the effects of government tax and regulation policies on the economy.. . So, yes, the Republicans are out of touch, but that doesn't speak well for the people.

My vote on this question goes to the liberals, in general, and this includes the liberal media.. . The democrats had to swing right to get this victory, and they will have to stay right to have a hope of winning the 2008 elections.. . I doubt the media will be out en force calling this the conservative victory that it was.
