Jam is anything made from soft druit, pulped together with sugar. Marmalade, of which orange is the most popular, is made from citrus fruits such as lime, lemon or orange, and contains shredded peel from the fruit

In the UK marmalade has the slightly bitter taste from the citrus peal. In other countries it's the word for jam. Here in Switzerland we can buy bitter orange jam, which is marmalade. And a lot cheaper than going to a specialist store and buying British marmalade.
