How can I obtain military records for my deceased father?

Contact the National Personnel Record Center of the National Archives. The military records link is at the bottom of the homepage listed below. Be advised that you probably will not get a full copy of his personnel file but rather a digital copy of the more important items. The hard copy of personnel files are kept on the military bases.

Get in contact with the National Military Archives in St. Louis, MO.. . They keep all records of anyone to ever serve in the military.

National Military Archives in St. Louis. You can find their website with a Google search and download the forms. You will need a copy of the death certificate.. . Best Wishes,. . Sue

go to www.va.gov and there will be a place you can request military records througn the Veterans Administration website.

You can contact the U.S. Department of Defense. Submit any and all personal data and mail it to:. . United States Department of Defense. Office of the Secretary of Defense . Washington, D.C.. . Or, you can write your congressman at the following address:. . United States Congressman....full name. United States House of Representatives. Washington, D.C.. . Or, you could even try to contact the American Legion, The Veterans Administration or the local library may be of some assistance.. . Just remember to include as much information about you father as possible, including SSAN, Service number, date of birth and address and date of his passing and especially his military address you may copy from any letters when he wrote home,....etc.. .
