The heat from a microwave is very localized. It needs to sit for a couple minutes for it to travel evenly through the food. Otherwise, you'll have food that's cool in spots and overly hot in others.. . BTW, if it's liquid, be sure to stir it before you sip it.

I'm pretty sure so you won't burn your mouth , or yourself while taking it out of the oven . Think of the lady that spilled the hot coffee on her and won a million dollar lawsuit. Maybe that has something to do with it. :)

because you have to allow the food to finish cooking. it cooks at less than the heat rate a microwave would. it cooks off its own heat.

because it is still cooking. let it cook and settle. the heat wil even out and be cooked more evenly.

yes it may be hot and needs to cool down and to let it suck back in the juices and flavors

to ensure that the heat transfers all the way through - normal cookers don't specify this as they take longer to heat the food which allows the process to happen in the oven.

It has to do with residual cooking the food continues to cook for about 5 minutes after it is removed from the oven. Many conventional ovens do say something about letting the meat sit.

The outside continues to get hotter after the microwave shuts off.You can grab a piece of food out of it and it only feels warm, then all of a sudden while it's in your hand it becomes scalding hot and burns you.

its important too listen to this. in the microwave you have (i forgot what its called at the moment) but think of it like bouncy balls that are hot. they are bouncing everywhere in there and warming up you food. the reason it tells you to wait 1-2 mins after it is taking out is because unlike other cooking items like the stove, etc. it is still cooking and that 1-2 mins can make a big difference!
