police officers to get a confession, are allowed to lie to a suspect about evidence, about all sorts of things.. . And sorry I see them as a criminal, not a sick person. A person with cancer is sick, a drug addict is a criminal

You think they don't try to help? Then you're stupid.. . The problem isn't the cops, it's the penal system. They are designed to house people but not to help or "fix" them, and then churn out worse and more violent criminals.

cops can lie on the job, its within their right to do so.. . and they can offer help, but suggesting the druggie get put into rehab.

Yes, the cops should leave the druggie on the street where he/she will die a horrible death due to the poison they're putting into their bodies. . Like it or not, an arrest does get some druggies into rehab, not all.. What are YOU doing to combat these drugs? Are you helping them with rehab?

If they got arrested for drugs, the police already have the collar. The person broke the law, so they still have to go to jail. Once they have served their time, they are probably going to have to go to court-ordered rehab. So, they got some help after all, and the police got them off the street. It's a win-win scenario.. . BTW, if you think that people who use drugs should be left alone, you have obviously never been burglarized by someone who will take your property and sell it for about 10% of it's actual worth so that they can go on to the next rock or the next fix. And you probably have never had your grade-schooler come home with a hypodermic needle they found on the sidewalk on the way home from school.

What ever it takes to get the offenders behind bars, good on the public servants.. The "sick" person shouldn't have been doing the drugs in the first place, then they wouldn't have to be spending time behind bars.

Not to many people on your side tonight eldoradoman. Cops arrest people with drugs because they committed a crime. Cops can offer to get the druggie some help, but if the person refuses, there is not much the police can do.
