Arby's is named for the company founders, Leroy and Forrest Raffel, the Raffel Brothers, also R.B.. . Though I liked their slogan "America's Roast Beef, Yes Sir!" I'm prone to taking the company's official, published statement as the "right answer." And they specifically deny that it's derived from "roast beef."

It was founded by the Raffell brother's - Forrest & Leroy. Arby's stands for "R" (Raffell)/"B" (brothers). The brother's originally owned a restaurant equipment business called "Raffell Brothers, Inc".
