Best answer
The caffeine is the same compound in either. But they are present in different quantities. See the website below. Note that dark chocolate has more caffeine ounce for ounce than coffee, whereas milk chocolate has less caffeine than coffee.

When caffeine appears to have different effects depending on the source, it is due primarily to varying concentrations of other stimulants and absorption rates of the mixture.
