What makes cycling uphill more challenging than walking uphill?

because your bike is rolling backwards and you need to exert more force to fight it. . imagine if you're walking uphill and you stand still -- you don't fall backwards, because the friction in your shoes holds you, meanwhile if you were to bike uphill and sit still, the bike is going to roll backwards.

Hey Boy,. . In fact it's actually easier to bike uphill than walk uphill!. . When you are walking you are flexible to choose your walking speed. Your walking speed is depends on how much your body is tired. When you feel too tired you’d slow down your walking speed; or you’d completely stop walking. But that's not the case with biking. You must maintain certain speed limit to keep your bike's balance... else you & your bike would fall down! To keep the balance you must continuously peddle the bike, thus causing more tiredness.. . If you do biking regularly you’ll actually find it easier to bike uphill than walk uphill…. . Regards. Manov. Fitnes Expert
