They have strong maternal instincts and really want to have babies. I have been thru several false pregnancies with my dogs. One of mine fostered 6 babies from a mama that died.

when a dog has been "got" or has been bred sometimes their hormones get all out of whack and send false signals through the body therfore creating a "false pregnancy" and sometimes the body will go as far as creating milk
