if you have a dispute, you need to send a letter (a real letter, via snail mail) to the credit card company with the dispute. send it to the major three credit agencies to cover yourself.

You can't. If the repossession is older than seven years, you can contact each credit reporting agency in writing and request that this item is removed for your report. This doesn't mean that it will immediately be withdrawn, you have to follow up with them until the negative item has been removed. Good Luck.

A repo stays on your credit for aprox. 7 years. I have only 4 years to go 'till mine's off. I am going to throw a big party.. . http://www.cardreport.com/credit-problems/repossession.html. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/credit/index.html

They report the facts. If you had a repo, the company that you had issues with, wants other companies to know about it.. . That's the way they prevent finacial losses from dead beats.

Items are never erased or removed they just expire with time.. They stay on your record so creditors can judge if you are. building up a history of bad debt. A single bad record is not going. to hurt you, its the long term pattern that they are looking at.

Ah, a repossesion is a big deal to a credit company. They don't want this info removed. They need to know that you are a credit risk. I don't think you can get it removed without being extra careful with your credit from now on and rebuilding it. . Your credit today is like a man's word in the old westerns. Guard it carefully, never do anything to make it questionable because once broken it is very difficult to get that trust back.
