How to prevent a picture from displaying during computer startup?

Or... if you mean the little image next to your name that can simply be removed by clicking the start bar and clicking the image at the top. Then you can change/remove your image in this menu.

Go to start menu hit run type in msconfig hit enter hit the boot.ini. file tab select noguboot this will take away the loading screen during boot up

right click on your screen and co to display properties, then desk top and scroll till you see "none" and that will clear the picture from start up screen

If by that you mean the Windows splash screen, then it can be removed pretty easily. Begin by opening the Start Menu, then hit Run. Type in msconfig and hit Enter. This will bring up a new window. Switch to the BOOT.INI tab, and check the box next to /NOGUIBOOT. Hit apply and restart your computer. That should do it! And by the way, I do NOT reccomend playing with anything else in that menu, because you can really mess things up.

I assume you mean the boot screen that says "Windows whatever-version".. You can try hacking your registry to disable it, but I don't recommend it, unless 1) you first back it up, and 2) you know what the heck you're doing.. . If you use WindowsXP, you can customize it with an open-source product called, interestingly enough, BootSkin. It, and its companion programs are available at the link below.. . Kind regards.
