Because the employees want to sell their product(s) and make a better prophit.. By ensureing them(the coustemer) that they are right, and they want to do whatever they can for them, they feel like buying things from their store/buisness/or buying a product seems the safest thing to do with people that seem like they can help you if something goes wrong with a product or products.

Because the seller wants them to come back and continue with a good reputation. If the customer was always wrong nobody would shop with them and they'd go bankrupt.

Do you mean the customers?. . For a retail business, the customer is the life blood of the business. You aren't going to stay in business very long if you can't attract and maintain a strong customer base. So you always tend to "suck up" to your customers even though they can be irritating at times.
