Chemically speaking, both 7up and milk have acidic components. There is citric acid in 7up and lactic acid as the major component of milk. Toothpaste is relatively basic. Hence, after you brush the basic residue will react with the citric or lactic acid in ur respective beverages producing the "funny" taste.

it's the minty freshness of the toothpaste - every liquid tastes different after you brush your teeth.

Probably the strong flavoring in the toothpaste

orange juice too!!! It's cause toothpaste wasn't made to accompany any other flavor.

because they are both different compounds, and when mixed together, they create a very different taste.

It's because there's a little toothpaste left in your mouth. The taste interacts with 7up, milk, or whatever you're eating or drinking right after you brush your teeth.

It may be the toothpaste residue, it may be if you combine 7 up and milk, and it may be that there is some sort of ingredient or preservative common to the two that cause a bad taste in reaction with the toothpaste. . Could just be minty milk doesn't taste too good though.

Dunno, but have you ever tried orange juice after brushing your teeth? That's probably even worse.
