Simple. The shoulder tendon gets squeezed by the bones when you lift up your arm. It hurts but gets better with time and rest.

Impingement syndrome is when the acromion(bone over the rotator cuff) develops a spur. This spurring closes down the space between the two, causing pain and inflammation of the bursal tissues(bursitis).. . If left untreated,a rotator cuff tear may eventually occur.. . See your orthopedic surgeon when this condition starts to interfere with daily activities.. . The pain and swelling can be relieved with a relatively minor procedure called a decompression acromioplasty. Most surgeons complete this through a shoulder arthroscopy.
