It is almost impossible for a person to keep their eyelids open during a sneeze, although some rare individuals report having little if any trouble doing so. The reflex of shutting the eyes serves no obvious purpose: the nerves serving the eyes and the nose are closely related, and stimuli to the one often trigger some response in the other.

Because your eye balls will fly out if you don't close your eyes.

Actually, with enough practice, you can. I saw it on an episode of Brainiac.

you cant, it is an involuntary movement that can not be controlled, just like how you blink and your heartbeat.. Whatever the reason it must be a good one, so don't try to change it(or you might sneeze your eyes out!)
