Best answer
Technically, you could physically hold, or have someone else hold, your eyes lids open when you sneeze. Otherwise, I guess that it would fall under that involuntary reflex category.

its part of the muscle contraction...the face all works togther u open ur mouth to sneeze ur eyes close..

My guess is the muscles involved in sneezing are close enough to the eyes that they would exert such a force on the eyes when you sneeze that your eyes would be damaged if you kept them open. . . There seems to be no proven answer to this question anywhere on the Internet, so good one!
