How can one overcome depression without using medications?

believe in yourself.and try to stay away the things that make you sad.love yourself.if don't belive that everything is under your control nothing will be helpful.listen to the voice inside.and make it happy.ENJOY YOUR LIFE!

Depends on the type of depression. If it's cause is part of withdrawals you just have to remind yourself it'll be better without it. If it's because you're lonely find people to talk to. For any other reason you may just need to take a vacation.

get that photo album of yours from the closet. see yourself happy and having fun. try to have positive thoughts. think of the moment wen u were very very happy, your greatest achievement, that first kiss........think of all things nice. talk to ur best friend. tel him/her everything in ur heart. develpo a hobby(music, gardenin, etc)

Try and decide the biggest contibutor to what makes you feel depressed and eliminate it from your life. For myself I went on anti depressants for about 6 months but found I was still having large bouts of depression whenever at work and yet when at home on vacation I was fine, I felt fine and never suffered those deep feelings of dispair and self hatred that sometimes struck me. Because of this I realised work was what was making me depressed and although the pills did to some extent help with the symptoms, the cause of my depression was still there and so of course I would never get over it. I immediately stopped taking my tablets (not something you should do however as there are usually side effects of just stopping anti-deppresant medication) and handed in my notice. Immediately I felt a massive weight lift off my mind and now I am in a new job working the same hours (although for slightly less pay) with more responability and yet I do not suffer from these over whelming "black moods" anymore. The best way to get rid of depression without medication is simply get rid of the cause from your life.
