salt water actually has a higher boiling point than pure water, so maybe it allows the water to reach a higher temperature and the spaghetti cooks faster?. . although I think it would take a lot more than the sprinkle of salt most people toss in.

Salt always enhances the flavor, that's why it's a key ingredient.. . Adding salt to the water you cook the spaghetti noodles in, helps the water boil quicker.. . Adding salt to the spaghetti sauce, enhances the flavor and cuts the acidity of the tomatoes.

The salt can actually stop the pasta from sticking to each other. you do not need to add oil to the water, as all you are doing is pouring it off.Only add salt when the water is boiling. hope this helps

Salt does not make water boil faster, in fact it raises the boiling point, so you have to provide more heat for the water to boil. But the water boils at a higher temp, so the pasta cooks slighlty faster.. Nor does salt keep pasta from sticking.. . The best method is to add about a Tbsp of salt to a large pot of water, before it boils. When the pasta is done, if you are not serving it immediately, toss it with a little olive oil to keep it from sticking.

Salt adds flavor to the spaghetti. You shouldn't add it to the water before it boils because it will ruin your pan.

It's better to add oil in the water because it helps separate the noodles.

helps to keep it from sticking. Cooking oil (just a tiny bit) will help also.
