Because a given length of time becomes smaller and smaller in relation to your whole life as you age.. . When you are 5, 1 year is 20% of your entire life, and feels like an eternity.. . But when you are 50, 1 year is only 2% of your entire life and seems to fly past.. . That's just my theory :)

During the first year of school, that year was 1/5 of your entire life. That same year now is 1/16 or 1/20 of your life (depending on your age). So, time as a percentage of your life does in fact pass quicker the older you get.

That phenomenon is most distinct when you turn 50. It may be that from then on, your age rounds to 100 rather than 0.. . Also, when you are older, you've experienced a lot so the time between novel events grows greater. When you're younger, milestones occur more frequently.

Because you become jaded. There is a lot less wonder as you get older, things become more stable and you begin to fill your time with responsibilities. Time spent doing work is not "real time", so it seems like you have a lot less time. As we get older we spend more of our time relaxing/doing nothing, and we seem to not have enough time to do what we want/need to do. Become more active, have new experiences and time will slow down a bit...

well when you were one year old a day was 1/365 of your life. At 10 years of age a day is only 1/3650 of your life!. Just kidding. Actually it has to do with our involvement in our own life when we are children everything is new and our attention is constantly drawn to new things, as we age much of our environment is dismissed by the mind. This creates a gap of time that is lost.
