What causes a computer to display a blank screen upon startup?

if the computer is not starting up then you could have compatibility issues try removing one of the hardware say the usb device first and try starting it up if it works then you will know that it is the usb device that is the problem if it doesn't change then you know it is the TV card that is causing the problem once you know the problem you can try to fix it did you anti static protection?? if not you could of damaged the hardware before you installed it or it just could be that it is not compatible with you your computer it is awkward problem

it might have to do with the screen saver trying to run when you turn it on or your trying to run to much junk on your computer

Remove the newly added USB device and 'the other card' and see if the problem still occurs. Then re-install.. . If it doesn't work upon re-install then you have a problem with the USB device or other card you've installed.

That's a dificult question. It could be hardware failure ... that's the most likely.
