How can one resist temptation effectively?

Is there a reason you need to overcome your temptation? Are you in a relationship or something? If not and there is no reason to, then you should tell that person you admire them. They will probably be flattered.

If you are a christian, memorizing some Bible verses will help immensely. Romans 13:14 would be a good one in this situation. "Put on the righteousness of Christ, and make no provision for the lusts of the flesh." Another one I use quite a bit is Romans 12:1. "Therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, present yourselves a living and holy sacrifice before God, which is your spiritual service of worship." What I like about that one is it reminds me that it is only through the grace of God I am able to overcome sin, that He will help me.. [email protected]

Oscar Wilde said, "The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it... I can resist everything but temptation.". . You'll need her cooperation to take Mr. Wilde's advice. But if she's willing, it's legal, and you're safe - why not?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with desiring another human being. We are sexual beings, always have been and always will be. By not following your desires in a healthy way (i mean by safe sex and consent of the other person) you are actually doing yourself a disservice and and causing yourself more grief by not following your natural instincts. Sex and your own sexuality is not a sin and you should be proud of it and not ashamed.

I hope by "everytime I see her body" you mean clothed...if not; there's your problem right there...stop seeing her without clothes. If you mean, just every time you see her...change your focus, think about your kids (if applicable), think about riding a bike; think back to if you turned the coffee pot off this morning, OR BETTER YET just stop looking at her. If you can't control yourself around this woman, than stop being around her. Sometimes it's tough, but if you truly want to do the right thing, then sometimes it means making these kinds of decisions.

The only way to overcome temptation is to yield to it. . . I think Oscar Wilde said something like, "Temptation is the only thing I can't resist" (words to that effect). . She sounds amazing ...does she know how you feel? Why not tell her...unless it's someone you really shouldn't feel that way about or it's illegal or something.
