You should call the Big Three credit bureaus and make sure that you haven't signed up for a new credit card recently. They are Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. Also there's a way to put a 90 day hold on your account. That way if someone tries to get a line of credit it will call you on a particular number that you give them. Perfect way to make sure you're not a victim of identity theft.

First off, tampering with mail, is a Federal offense which carries significant penalities. So if you report it to the police department, they may tell you to go report it to the post office.. . The post office has their own investigators, along with the F.B.I.

Report it to your post office? Or the local police department? Which the police can investigate and catch the person, when you aren't looking--they can just have checkups near ur house or around there... . good luck!. . Michelle

the first thing I would If able is set up a video camera pointing directly at my mailbox then if that was a possibility I would go to the nearest postal office and put a hold on my mail to pick it up at the post office with an picture ID only And if this is happening at home while you are there or asleep there is a device you can buy to alert you when mail has been delivered to your box or you can set it to let you know as soon as your box has been opened if it is a certain type of box If it takes a key to access your mail than I suggest you recall if you have lost any sets or maybe given any copy's of your mail to anyone and also be sure to check your credit report for recent activity here is the only free credit report site I know of www.freeannualcreditreport.com it gives you access to all 3 bureau's files and for further protection id get a pay service so I could emailed if there are any changes to your reports

I agree with all of the above answers just remember it is harder when you and the tamperer share the same residence.
