When they say muscle weighs more than fat, they are referring to its density. Muscle is denser, and therefore it takes less of it to reach the same weight as an amount of fat

Muscle is more dense than fat. If a person has a lot of fat they look fat. If a person has a lot of muscle they look muscular.

more water is retained in muscle than in fat. hence when a person loses water weight, they haven't lost much fat, just water.. P.S. people don't lose muscle tissue, it just shrinks because they lose water
