Best answer
The state is responsible for a proper burial, but not a funeral. It is a human right to have a proper burial.

They would still bury the person, and the family would be in debt. If no one could afford to pay it, the debt will stay forever.

I don't think the government will do shit for you. However there is this guy in maryland or virginia I forget where exactly but he runs a body bank that supplies cadavers to medical schools etc. He can do the embalming for like $80.

they bury you. Government pays and they bury you. Or the family would have to come up with the cahs but no reletives and poor all alone they bury you.. . R.I.P PROOF

You'd get buried but no funeral.Who would come ? If there was someone to attend they would pay for the services .But they may use cremation due to cost.Check with social service or social security offices for real facts.

I am a tightwad.. I have told my family: Whatever happens, do not claim the body otherwise it's going to cost money. Government will pay for disposal. . Think of it as getting some of your taxes back.
