Right click on it and choose "Delete". If its a software you installed, Go to Control Panel -> Add remove programs and remove it.

select the item (file or folder)you downloaded and hit delete button on keyboard.. alternatively you can do right click on the item and select delete option... all this will do is move that item to recycle bin.. if you press shift along with the delete thing it will delete it entirely... . If you are talking about something you have installed.. you will have to do following step Start-->settings--> click on control pannel. Now open add-remove program and select the program that you have installed and select remove.. and you will be all set

To do that. Go to start and click on control panel. In there, click on Add/Remove Hardware. Find the software you download onto your computer. Click on it. It should be highlighted in blue. Then click on remove. It may ask you for confirmation. Click yes if it does. Then follow the steps on your screen. It may be automatic. If it doesn't remove. Go to start, then run. Type regedit. Something should pop up. Then click on the 2nd file and find software. then find your software inside the software file. Then go back to main and click on the third icon. Do the same thing again.
