Why do I find it hard to breathe while taking a shower?

The humidity/heat make breathing difficult, but also if you are on city water, alot of chemicals are added to kill bacteria and diseases in the water-these chemicals tend to cling to moisture like vapour particles which you then breathe in. Maybe it was all a bit much for you- or you are developing a sensitivity-we are bombarded with toxins in the air 24/7. Mention it next time you are at the doctors, go to the hospital if it happens and doesn't subside.

The hot water can cause your nasal/sinus passages to swell. Try taking cooler showers and see if it still happens.

high humidity in the shower. you are inhaling more H2O per air molecule than usual.

You might have mold in your shower. Or you have a fragrance in one of your shampoos or soaps. Or you take cold showers. Generally heat and humidity don't *cause* asthma - that'd be an unusual response. Regardless, talk to your doctor.. . (I've also had trouble when I've hyperventilated in the shower and got lightheaded. Guess what I was doing?)

the lungs have a harder time processing air with a large amount of humidity...try turning on the fan or opening a window in the bathroom or take cold showers

I'm gonna say you probably answered your own question, the humidity and heat, but I would still keep an eye out on it if occurs again. I find i can breath easier in dry climates then i can in humid ones.

open the shower door/curtin a bit next time ,ur causing atmospheric changes in air pressure when u have a hot shower .being closed in can be like climbing a mountain in 2 seconds ..

Maybe your colsterfobic and if you are try taking cooler showers that always helps!!
