What were the reasons behind Joan of Arc's trial as a witch?

They couldn't try her for being in a enemy army, and they couldn't figure out any other way to convict her. They decided that they would persecute her on the basis that she wore men's clothing.

I think it's because she dressed like a man and claimed god talked to her. The council just didn't understand or approve of her behaivior.

She was leading a French miliary force against an English military force. The English captured her. The English feared her effectiveness, and so they didn't want to just make her a POW. Thus they concocted a witch trial, so they'd have an excuse to kill her.
