Their level of education. a psychiatrist has a higher degree and can prescribe medication.

The only difference is that psychiatrists get paid more and can perscribe medication where a psychologist can't perscribe and can only listen. I would say watch out for those psychiatrists. I know one who thinks that medication is the answer to everything and that's the first thing he does is perscribe one.

You are right. A psychiatrist is a psychologist that can presribe medicine.

Psychologist:. A person trained and educated to perform psychological research, testing, and therapy.. . Psychiatrist:. A Physician who specializes in psychiatry (diagnose and prescribe etc.)
