I think you need to be firm but also tactful. Maybe smile and say something like, 'it's been so nice having you here, I really have enjoyed it, of course I realize we all have lives to get on with, but before you leave we must make plans to meet up again.'. Or maybe say you have been making plans to decorate a certain room, and so 'it was so nice you could stay before I decorated, it's going to be so messy for the next week or so, but I'm so glad you came'. If you use the right words, you will get what you hope for and no-one's feelings will be hurt.. if they still don't get it, then you have to just say, 'I really need you to leave now because I have to ....' and then list all the things you need to do

Tell them in the harshest way possible to leave. If they (even if really nice friends) haven't gotten your subtle hints, it's time to take off the gloves.

let them know that you loved having them but guests are like fish after so long they begin to smell.

Call the police. . . Turn off all utilities, remove food, move for a week, and than report squatters, trespassers, intruders in your home.

Sit them all down with a couple of friends or other family members and tell them that you want them to leave. Be straight forward...but since they have been there that long....you may have to evict them, legally!

Wait till they come in the door and place a broom behind the door (brush side up) and leave it there until they go out again. I tried it and I have not seen the person since.

Be direct! This is your home, not theirs! Sit down with them and tell them, you want them out! But do it nicely! You don't need that stress! Guests are like fish, they stink after 3 days. Tell them to start looking in the paper or go with a relative or back with their parents or someone! The longer they stay, the more they will feel it is their home and won't leave. Say it clearly, you want your home by yourself and your privacy, and call before coming over if they want to stop back by for a visit to make sure they aren't bothering you!
