Red, green, and blue are only the primary colors for light. They are considered primary because separately they can mix together to make the other colors. Green and blue together make cyan, red and blue make magenta, and green and red make yellow.. . THe primary colors for solid colors are red, yellow, and blue that can mix to make colors like green or orange.

Because all other colors (other than black and white - they're in a category of their own) can be made from them. Hence the term 'primary.'

because the receoptors in our eyes are most sensitive to light in these wavelengths, and our brain will interpret combinations of these colors as being different in between colors. your computer monitor can display millions of different colors, but if you could see it real close - try a big screen tv - you could see that each pixel is made of little red blue and green dots.. . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichromat
