Sitting in a steamy restroom is good for asthma. It works like a humidifier and opens up the airway passage.

Turn the shower on full hot water and shut the bathroom door for a few moments, This will allow the steam to accumulate. Come back in the bathroom and drop a couple of Vicks Shower Soothers in the tub. Adjust the water to a comfortable temp. Take your shower as normal. Shut the water off and stay in the bathroom for a few minutes drawing in deep breaths. Hope this helps......

I have asthma, The steam seems to loosen something up to help you breath better. Sorry I don't have any "medical" terms for you. It does not always work though. The best thing is my inhaler.

In my experience as an asthmatic for 16 years (my whole life) hot steamy air, can or cannot be good, depending on how hot it is. Too much heat makes it hard to breathe, just the right amount of heat, helps open up your blocked airways, and allows for easy passage of air. Hope this helps :)
