What is the distinction between Washington and D.C.?

Washington is a state in the Northwest US (just north of Oregon). District of Columbia (D.C.) is a section of land that is not within any state, but is a federal district. The entirety of that district is also a city called Washington. So it is often called Washington, D.C.

Washington was the name of the former president of America. and from there name Country named as Whashington D.C. , And D.C. is related to electricity i.e. short for Direct Current.
