Why do some people struggle to understand the issue of priests committing sexual abuse?

I agree. This whole Catholic Church priest thing has gotten ridiculous. As if the Catholic Church is the only religion who has this problem. I think it has to do with people not understanding the need for Priests to be celibate and assuming that's leads to pedophillia, which it doesn't.

I'm not arguing that all churches have it's problem. I'm upset that they would " forgive " such a blatant act of Adultery, try to cover it and set it up to happen again. To me, that says ' the pride and reputation of the Church is more important that it's faithful'. . We're not upset that it has corruption. We're upset the the church is bound by it.

It's not that the media are atheists, the media loves anything negative, despite morale or tact, that's what they are vultures. And regardless of who snuck into the church (a cult??? what proof do u have of this?) it doesn't matter, it was still done within the church. And if that's the case, then the church is not doing it's job as far as screening people and background checks. And remember, we are all human. Just because some people are apart of the church doesn't make them special or immune to scrutiny when something goes wrong. That's how the world works dear, so get over it.

I agree. Just because Catholism has been focused in the media doesn't mean other men of religious authority aren't raping...in larger numbers and getting away with it because people within their communities are too proud/ashamed to speak up. I know for a fact this happens in madrasahs.

the catholic church gets these sex offenders out of the country and protects them from ever being tried for their crimes--they interfere with investigations tamper with witnesses, threaten the victims--no other religion does this

The story behind the VERY FEW priests who have violated the youth in their parish is in the abuse of their roles as a person that is worthy of trust.
